Code Switching

         VERB

The practice of alternating between two or more languages or varieties of language in conversation.

       EXAMPLE

Changing one's language / ´accent´/ 'dialect' / way of speaking in different situations.

Centered around people of color in Cape Town, we set out to ask code switchers about the experience and meaning of this fascinating phenomenon.

By acknowledging the influence of economic standards and issues of social acceptance behind code switching, our aim is to stimulate progressive conversations about identity as an extension of language and its fluidity.
